Place:
One sure sign of spring in Chicago is the annual weekend call for “boats out”, with its salute from each of the Chicago-type bascule trunnion bridges by one of the operators situated in the control room on the side of the bridge, as they drop the traffic gates and control the below deck counterweights that signal the mechanisms raising and lowering of the spans. The average time for a span opening on the bridge is eight minutes, although this may seem longer to those waiting in their cars for the bridge to reopen, ...but on this weekend, the boats rule the day.

This was shot with a canon g2 camera in a multi-row setup
and covers a 45 degree arc going southeast to southwest @ 11:30 in the morning.
